Tortured by his own mediocrity, Max decides to commit suicide and recruits his only friend Bud, a struggling filmmaker, to record his last day on earth. The story of USSR's first nuclear ballistic submarine, which suffered a malfunction in its nuclear reactor on its maiden voyage in the North Atlantic in 1961.
